engineering services

Operations in this division have expanded to include specialist ship repair, where we provide engineering services in welding, fabrication, pipework, mobilisation and demobilisation of specialist vessels. The company has engineering capability in steel, cunifer, brass, copper, stainless and aluminium and specialist expertise in pipework systems for fuel, water, cooling, bilges and ballast.

In addition to ISO 9001:2000 accredited general welding, fabrication and fitting services the company can supply coded welders, design and project engineers, chartered engineers, specialist hydraulic and electrical services. We are available to work with consulting engineers, shipyards, owners and agents to provide one-stop and turnkey services that can manage entire projects for vessel alteration, repairs and maintenance.

Because Dive Technologies is also an important in-water engineering company we can provide total solutions where vessels require emergency work afloat and, being accredited survey contractors for most of the classification societies, can provide inspections and arrange solutions that keep vessels in Class. Beyond ship repair, the company manufactures pontoons, small bridges, access structures, steel fabrications and various bespoke engineering projects for the building industry.

The quality, speed and cost effectiveness of our engineering services has enabled the company to secure long term contracts to become:
  • the preferred sub-contractor of Babcock MEF, a major Defence contractor
  • the preferred maintenance contractor of Global Marine Systems (formerly Cable & Wireless)
  • a nominated subcontractor of A&P
  • a nominated subcontractor of Northwest Shiprepair and Shipbuilders
  • a supplier to BAE systems training
We have dive tank facilities where we train specialist divers including UK Navy divers - to carry out engineering tasks and train specialist engineers how to operate safely and effectively in water. We continually invest in the regular training of our staff to maintain our high standard of Health & Safety and Quality Assurance. When initial training and methodolgy has been proved in the tank, operations move outside the Dive Centre into Portland Harbour where we have over 2,000 acres of both sheltered water and areas exposed to weather for testing in real life conditions.

These facilities are used to develop cost effective solutions to client problems and we even develop our own equipment - rated to offshore standards and currently among the best in the world. To get the best results for your project, consult Dive Technologies at the beginning and let our experts help solve your problems.
